RAIN COAT
RAIN COAT
Product No. T-1401
Application: Hydrophobic coating for automotive glass
Volume: 20 mL
Durability: Approx. 3–6 Months on Windshields
Recommended Surfaces: Windshield / Side Windows / Rear Glass
FEATURES
Clearer Glass. Powerful Water Repellency. Better Wet-Weather Visibility.
TACSYSTEM RAIN COAT is a hydrophobic glass coating designed to create a highly water-repellent surface on automotive glass.
Once applied, RAIN COAT causes water to form tight beads and move quickly across the glass, helping rainwater clear more efficiently while driving. At driving speeds of approximately 30 mph (48 km/h) and above, airflow can help push water droplets away from the treated windshield, improving visibility during wet-weather driving.
The coating also helps reduce the adhesion and accumulation of dirt, road grime, mineral deposits, and other contamination on the glass surface, making routine cleaning and maintenance easier.
With durability of approximately 3–6 months on windshields, RAIN COAT provides long-lasting hydrophobic performance for clearer, easier-to-maintain automotive glass.
- Powerful Hydrophobic Performance – Creates a highly water-repellent glass surface that causes rainwater to bead rapidly.
- Improved Wet-Weather Visibility – Helps water move away from the windshield more efficiently during rainy driving conditions.
- Enhanced Water Beading – Forms tight, defined water droplets that are more easily moved by airflow.
- 3–6 Month Durability – Provides approximately 3–6 months of protection on windshields depending on application, vehicle use, wiper frequency, maintenance, and environmental conditions.
- Reduced Contamination Adhesion – Helps reduce the adhesion of dirt, road grime, mineral deposits, and other contamination.
- Easier Glass Maintenance – Treated glass is easier to clean and maintain during regular vehicle care.
- Improved Surface Clarity – Helps keep automotive glass cleaner for improved visual clarity.
- Windshield Protection – Ideal for maintaining hydrophobic performance on the vehicle's most important visibility surface.
- Multi-Glass Application – Suitable for windshields, side windows, and rear automotive glass.
- Optional IR Curing – IR curing may be used to enhance coating performance.
HYDROPHOBIC GLASS PROTECTION
Make Water Move
RAIN COAT transforms automotive glass into a highly water-repellent surface.
Instead of spreading across the glass, water forms compact droplets that can move more freely across the treated surface.
As vehicle speed increases, airflow helps move these droplets away from the windshield, reducing the amount of water remaining in the driver's field of vision.
This hydrophobic behavior is particularly beneficial during rain, helping maintain clearer glass and improved visibility in challenging wet-weather conditions.
CLEARER VISIBILITY IN THE RAIN
Designed for Wet-Weather Driving
Rainwater, road spray, dirt, and contamination can significantly reduce windshield clarity during poor weather.
RAIN COAT creates a hydrophobic barrier that helps minimize the amount of water remaining on the glass.
At approximately 30 mph (48 km/h) and above, vehicle airflow can help move water droplets across and away from the treated windshield.
The exact performance will vary depending on rainfall intensity, vehicle aerodynamics, windshield angle, vehicle speed, coating condition, and environmental conditions.
IMPORTANT: RAIN COAT is designed to support wet-weather visibility and glass maintenance. It does not replace proper windshield wipers or safe driving practices.
REDUCED DIRT & CONTAMINATION
Cleaner Glass. Easier Maintenance.
RAIN COAT does more than repel water.
Its coated surface also helps reduce the adhesion of:
- Dirt
- Road grime
- Mineral deposits
- Hard-water spots
- Environmental contamination
- Other common glass stains
By reducing the ability of contamination to bond strongly to the glass, RAIN COAT makes routine cleaning easier and helps maintain a cleaner, clearer windshield.
3–6 MONTH GLASS PROTECTION
When properly applied and maintained, RAIN COAT provides approximately 3–6 months of hydrophobic performance on automotive windshields.
Actual durability may vary depending on:
- Windshield-wiper frequency
- Vehicle mileage
- Weather conditions
- Washing frequency
- Cleaning chemicals
- Environmental contamination
- Surface preparation
- Application quality
Side and rear glass may experience different durability because these surfaces are generally exposed to less mechanical abrasion from windshield wipers.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Maximum Performance Starts with Perfectly Clean Glass
Proper glass preparation is essential for achieving maximum bonding, durability, and hydrophobic performance.
Before applying RAIN COAT:
- Thoroughly wash and clean the glass to remove loose dirt and contamination.
- Decontaminate the glass as necessary to remove embedded mineral deposits, water spots, and other bonded contamination.
- Polish the glass where required until the surface is smooth, clean, and free of correctable water-spot deposits or surface contamination.
- Thoroughly clean the glass with TACSYSTEM Oil Zero to remove oils, polishing residue, and other remaining contaminants.
- Make sure the glass is completely clean, dry, and cool before applying RAIN COAT.
A properly prepared glass surface allows the coating to bond more effectively and provides the best possible hydrophobic performance.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always wear a protective mask and suitable gloves during application. Make sure the glass is completely clean and free of contamination before applying the coating.
- Clean, decontaminate, and polish the glass as necessary until the surface is in optimal condition and free of bonded contamination and correctable water deposits.
- Clean the prepared glass thoroughly with TACSYSTEM Oil Zero to remove oils and polishing residue.
- Make sure the glass is completely dry before application.
- Wrap a clean microfiber suede cloth around an appropriate coating applicator block.
- Apply a small amount of RAIN COAT evenly onto the suede applicator.
- Apply the product to the glass using a crosshatch pattern to ensure thin, complete, and uniform coverage.
- Avoid applying the product to non-glass surfaces.
- Allow RAIN COAT to remain on the glass for approximately 1–3 minutes.
- Using a fresh, clean microfiber towel, thoroughly level and buff the glass until all visible residue and streaks have been removed.
- Inspect the glass under adequate lighting and make sure the surface is completely clear and uniform.
TIP: Work in manageable sections and use fresh microfiber towels as necessary to achieve a completely clear, streak-free finish.
OPTIONAL IR CURING
For enhanced coating performance, RAIN COAT may optionally be cured using an IR lamp.
Recommended IR Curing:
50–60°C for approximately 30 minutes
IR curing is optional and is not required for standard application.
When using an IR lamp, carefully monitor the glass and surrounding materials and follow the equipment manufacturer's recommended operating procedures.
APPLICATION TIPS
For the best possible results:
- Apply only to clean, dry, and cool automotive glass.
- Avoid application in direct sunlight or on hot glass.
- Make sure all polishing oils and residue are removed before coating.
- Apply a thin, uniform layer rather than excessive product.
- Use a fresh microfiber towel for final leveling and buffing.
- Inspect carefully for streaks or residue before the coating begins to cure.
- Avoid contact with surrounding paint, trim, rubber, and other non-glass surfaces.
CAUTIONS
- Always wear a protective mask and suitable gloves during application.
- Close the bottle tightly after use and store in a cool, dry place.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid unnecessary contact with skin and eyes.
- In case of skin contact, rinse thoroughly with water.
- In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.
- If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately and show the product container or label to medical personnel.
